Missy Franklin

Missy Franklin was one of the swimming stars of the London 2012 Olympic Games, winning four gold medals in the 100m and 200m backstroke as well as the 4x100m medley and 4x200m freestyle relays. Franklin was just 17 years old at London 2012. Her 200m backstroke time of 2:04.06 was a world record, and it’s stood ever since. She was later named as World Swimmer of the Year in 2012 by Swimming World Magazine.

Her 11 World Championship gold medals won between 2011 and 2015 was a record until Katie Ledecky broke it at Budapest in 2017. Franklin also won a fifth Olympic gold medal in the 4x200m freestyle at Rio 2016. After two years of injury problems, Franklin returned to action in the summer of 2018 and is targeting further Olympic glory at Tokyo in 2020.
